Coronation of King Charles the Third
Thank you
I would just like to say a massive thank you to all the people who helped to make the Coronation celebrations such a huge success.
From the people who put up all the bunting and made it look wonderful, to the people who decorated tables so painstakingly and fabulously. To all the sandwich makers, cake bakers and scone makers.
Not forgetting the master of ceremonies who called the raffle and looked very regal in his crown. The people who came to help tidy up at the end, without you we would probably still be there. If I have forgotten anyone I am sorry but you know you have my thanks, none of it could have been done without your participation and help.
Last but not least thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us on Saturday and Monday. When I have a final figure of what we have raised I will let you know.
Crown and Coronets Team
Well, how splendid was that, to be celebrating the Coronation of King Charles the Third and Queen Camilla, such a momentous day in history, among church family and friends at the Crowns and Coronets Party at the Methodists Church on Bank Holiday Monday? One wonders how many other churches open their doors on a Bank Holiday?
There were some people there (quite a few actually) who remembered Queen Elizabeth the second's Coronation in June 1953 and where they were at the time, and maybe there will be others who perhaps will outlive Charles and see the next one.
One lady sitting nearby, said she will never forget the amazingly lovely day of food, fun, fellowship and faith she'd had on Bank Holiday Monday, and who would disagree with that?
The organisation of our party was brilliant, the food was both delicious and plentiful and the kitchen staff cum waitresses, all volunteers from the congregation, were absolutely wonderful, as efficient, smiling and smart in their simple 'uniforms' as in any 5* restaurant, our every needs were anticipated with our tea plates and china cups refilled almost before they were empty.
A Coronation quiz from Jon, with our always regal Rev'd Nichola helping every table with the answers, sometimes unashamedly 'nicked' from other more clued up party-goers, and a raffle, added to the fun. Our thanks go to Jackie whose brainchild this was and who decorated the tables so beautifully and never looked less than amazing and to Ann Mills and her willing volunteers who made it all possible
And it was so heart-warming to be joined by members of other denominations also so all in all an awesome day to remember.
Thanks must go all who were involved in any way, and that includes those responsible for designing and printing tickets, publicity, providing raffle prizes, heating, planning, serving, washing up and making sandwiches and delicious sponges and scones. It was a day to remember!
